There is something dark behind the recesses of this strand, a spirit that always denies, a force that undermines space and time. For seven years, the sonic crypt of the greatest black metal forge on the planet went silent, and the forces came together to return just in time for the band's 25th anniversary with a fiendish work that is timeless in the truest sense of the word - "Eonian". Musically, the band goes to absolute extremes on this record - so the black metal part this time around is even grittier and darker than ever before, but the epic, orchestral moments are pushed to the absolute limits by DIMMU BORGIR. Thus, "Eonian" contains classic black metal invasions like "Lightbringer" as well as highly symphonically charged anthems like "Interdimensional Summit" and the experimental "Council Of Wolves And Snakes", which is tinged with folk elements, which dares to look far over the horizon and is particularly close to the band - and shows once again that for a band like DIMMU BORGIR "there is no formula, no absolute measure", but that the path sometimes leads them in a direction they would never have expected themselves.
