The song "I Was Made for Lovin' You" became a big hit and reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album was well received by music critics. AllMusic reviewer Stephen Thomas Erlewine awarded the album four stars out of five, calling it "an energetic, hook-laden hard rock album". Dynasty is considered to be one of Kiss' strongest albums. It was ranked 25th on VH1's "40 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time".
