U příležitosti zahájení Beethovenova roku 2020 vydává Deutsche Grammophon v mnoha ohledech výjimečné album, které představuje dvě skladatelova klíčová díla: Trojkoncert op. 56 a Sedmou symfonii op. 92. Anne-Sophie Mutter, Yo-Yo Ma a Daniel Barenboim jsou tři z nejznámějších uměleckých osobností a beethovenovských interpretů současnosti, kteří společně s orchestrem West-Eastern Divan Orchestra interpretují tato barvitá díla mnohovrstevnatým a vzrušujícím způsobem. Nahrávky vznikly jako živé záznamy koncertů z července a října 2019 v Buenos Aires a Berlíně u příležitosti 20. výročí založení West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. Orchestr se již dávno stal symbolem projektu, který spojuje lidi. Spoluzaložil ho Daniel Barenboim v roce 1999, znamená odvážnou realizaci snu a je fascinujícím mikrokosmem, který je příkladem toho, jak může uspět smíření, když se pracuje na společné věci. Pro Daniela Barenboima byl Beethoven pravděpodobně prvním skutečně nekonvenčním skladatelem. Anne-Sophie Mutterová říká, že Beethoven "skutečně rozpoznal, o co v životě jde: o mírové soužití nás lidí, o to, že jsme tu jeden pro druhého. Pro mě je tato myšlenka, že bychom spolu měli žít v podstatě jako bratři nebo sestry, nakonec podstatou jeho díla, která z něj dělá posla z minulosti do lepší budoucnosti." Yo-Yo Ma vysvětluje: "Ta bujará invence je tak překvapivá a to dílo je tak život potvrzující, tak pozitivní. Druhá věta je vznešená a otevřená, ale krajní věty jsou prostě plné radosti!" Výrazně zdůrazněné party sólistů jsou často vedeny v komorním stylu a v expresivní interpretaci Mutterové, Barenboima a Maa okamžitě zaujmou.

To mark the opening of Beethoven's Year 2020, Deutsche Grammophon is releasing an album that is exceptional in several ways, featuring the Triple Concerto Op. 56 and the Seventh Symphony Op. 92, two of the composer's key works. Anne-Sophie Mutter, Yo-Yo Ma and Daniel Barenboim, three of the most renowned Beethoven artists and interpreters of our time, perform the varied works together with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra in a multi-layered and exciting way. The recordings were made as live recordings of the July and October 2019 concerts in Buenos Aires and Berlin to mark the 20th anniversary of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. The orchestra has long since become a symbol of a project that promotes international understanding. Co-founded by Daniel Barenboim in 1999, it is a bold realization of a dream and a fascinating microcosm of how reconciliation can be made successful by working together for a common cause. For Daniel Barenboim, Beethoven was probably the first truly unconventional composer. "He didn't care what people thought," said Barenboim, who demanded absolute physical presence and devotion from the performer. "As a musician, he forces you to go to the edge, to the abyss and beyond. That takes tremendous courage." The music of this convinced humanist is still compelling and relevant today for its existential depth and transgressive power. Anne-Sophie Mutter says that Beethoven "truly recognized what life is about: the peaceful togetherness of us humans, of being there for each other. This idea that we should live together as brothers or sisters is, for me, ultimately the essence of his work, which makes him a messenger from the past to a better future." Yo-Yo Ma explains, "The exuberant invention is so surprising and the work is so life-affirming, so positive. The second movement is lofty and open, but the corner movements are just full of joy!" The soloists' brightly highlighted parts are often conducted in a chamber style, and in the expressive interpretations of Mutter, Barenboim and Ma, they immediately catch the eye.
