"Metal Church" is the debut album of the eponymous heavy metal band, originally released in 1984. The album's success eventually secured the band a record deal with Elektra, who re-released it in 1985. The cover features a Gibson Explorer in the shape of a cross surrounded by shadows and smoke. Some of their most famous tracks include the opening "Beyond The Black", the title track "Metal Church", the instrumental "Merciless Onslaught", "Gods Of Wrath" (which is quite different from the other tracks as it features clean vocals, clear rhythm and smooth solos) and "Highway Star", which was recorded by DEEP PURPLE. The album was produced by METAL CHURCH and Terry Date (PANTERA, SLAYER, PRONG).
