The album was recorded in 2010 at various locations, including a church in Dorset. It was produced by Flood and John Parish, who had worked with Harvey on her previous album White Chalk. The album's lyrics are based on Harvey's observations on the state of England during the 2010 general election. Musically, it departs from Harvey's previous work, featuring less guitars and more electronic and orchestral elements. Let England Shake received widespread critical acclaim and was nominated for the 2011 Mercury Prize. It also won the 2011 Ivor Novello Award for Best Album. "Let England Shake" opět na vinylu PJ Harvey vydává v roce 2022 remasterovanou vinylovou reedici svého alba "Let England Shake" z roku 2011, čímž pokračuje série reedic britské alternativní zpěvačky a skladatelky.
Album "Let England Shake" původně vyšlo 14. února 2011 u Island Records. Jedná se o Harveyho osmé studiové album. Produkce však začala přibližně v době vydání jeho předchůdce "White Chalk" v roce 2007. Dvanáct písní alba napsala během dvou a půl roku a nahrála je během pěti týdnů v kostele v Dorsetu v dubnu a květnu 2010. Album produkovali PJ Harvey, Flood a Harveyho dlouholetý spolupracovník John Parish. Písně "Words That Maketh Murder", "The Glorious Land" a "Written On The Forehead" byly vydány jako singly. "Let England Shake" bylo druhým albem z hudebníkova katalogu, které získalo britskou hudební cenu Mercury.
Reedice je věrná originálu a byla sestříhána Jasonem Mitchellem v Loud Mastering pod vedením původního koproducenta Johna Parishe.
PS: Kromě vinylové reedice alba "Let England Shake" vyjde v roce 2022 i nová kolekce demo nahrávek k tomuto albu: "Let England Shake - Demos" je sbírka dosud nevydaných demo nahrávek. K dostání bude na CD a LP.
PJ Harvey zahájila svou hudební kariéru v roce 1988, kdy se připojila k místní skupině Automatic Dlamini jako zpěvačka, kytaristka a saxofonistka. Frontman kapely John Parish se později stal jejím hudebním partnerem. Její sólové debutové album "Dry" vyšlo v roce 1992. Do dnešního dne vydala pod svým jménem celkem devět alb, poslední "The Hope Six Demolition Project" v roce 2016.
