Badmotorfinger is the third studio album by American rock band Soundgarden , released on October 8, 1991 by A&M Records. After touring in support of their previous album Louder Than Love (1989), Soundgarden began work on Badmotorfinger in early 1991. The album was recorded in several studios in Seattle and Los Angeles with producer Terry Date. Badmotorfinger marked a significant stylistic shift for Soundgarden , as the band began experimenting with alternative rock and grunge. The album spawned three singles, "Jesus Christ Pose", "Outshined" and "Rusty Cage". "Jesus Christ Pose" and "Outshined" were nominated for Grammy Awards in 1992 and 1993, respectively. The album Badmotorfinger was certified triple platinum by the RIAA and sold more than three million copies in the United States. In 1992, she was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. In 2009, the album was ranked #336 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
