Supergroup Revives Dylans Lost Lyrics

The New Basement Tapes is a supergroup formed in 2014, consisting of Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens, Taylor Goldsmith, Jim James, and Marcus Mumford. The group came together to write and record music for a collection of recently discovered lyrics handwritten by Bob Dylan in 1967 during the period that generated the recording of his legendary "Basement Tapes." The project was initiated by producer T Bone Burnett, who was given access to the lyrics and saw an opportunity to create new music to accompany them. The resulting album, "Lost On The River: The New Basement Tapes," was released in November 2014 and received critical acclaim for its fresh interpretations of Dylan's work while capturing the collaborative spirit of the original Basement Tapes sessions. The project also included a documentary film titled "Lost Songs: The Basement Tapes Continued," which chronicled the recording process of the album.
